What is a Contingency Fee?

In our personal injury and worker’s compensation practices, our firm is compensated based on a contingency fee. Our clients pay our firm only if we are successful in handling the case.

In a contingent fee arrangement, the lawyer agrees to accept a fixed percentage (often 1/3) of the recovery, which is the amount paid out on the case. In Georgia, lawyers are allowed to recover 25% of any recovery once approved by the State Board of Worker’s Compensation.

If we settle or prevail at trial, our fee comes out of the overall amount of the settlement or verdict. If your case is unsuccessful, you will owe no fee to our firm.

If you have questions about a contingency fee or care to review our firm’s typical contingency fee agreement, please call us.
