According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a five year old girl, resident of Spaulding County, Georgia, remains in serious condition after she was bitten by her family’s dog. On December 5, 2012, the child was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where she was receiving medical treatment for being bitten by a dog. The Griffin Police Department and animal control identified the family dog as a pit bull.
A police officer with the Griffin Police Department arrived on the scene and witnessed the pit bull attacking the girl. The officer was forced to shoot the dog to prevent any additional injuries to the child.
