According to authorities, a Marietta resident passed away yesterday after the motorcycle he was driving crashed head-on with a SUV on Bascomb Carmel Road in Woodstock. The driver of the SUV is nineteen years old and a resident of Acworth.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment, and he later passed away from the injuries sustained in the wreck. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office state the preliminary investigation shows the driver of the SUV crossed the centerline and it appears that he fell asleep at the wheel.

According to the Patch.com, a Douglas County Superior Court Judge denied bond to the driver that was charged for driving under the influence (DUI) and injured in a motorcycle accident with an EMT at Grady Memorial Hospital.

A spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol stated the driver was traveling westbound on I-20 when his vehicle struck the EMT's motorcycle from behind. The accident resulted in the EMT being ejected from the motorcycle and into the center lane of the interstate, wherein a tractor-trailer truck struck him.

One of the highlights of the evening was a check presentation by Chairman Bernard to Governor Nathan Deal in support of the Governor's REACH need-based scholarship program. Speaking on behalf of the USG Foundation, Chairman Bernard noted, "We are excited about REACH and its potential, and pleased to provide a $50,000 contribution. We see it as an investment in our state's future." According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a pedestrian sustained injuries in a collision with a DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputy Thursday morning. The accident happened on 3700 block of Rockbridge Road in DeKalb County. The pedestrian was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment and the Sheriff's Deputy was not injured in the wreck.

A DeKalb County Sheriff's Sergeant stated that the Deputy was traveling to work with the incident occurred. The pedestrian ran down the driveway and impacted the side of the Deputy's vehicle. At this time, the Deputy has not been charged regarding this accident.

This pedestrian accident is being investigated by the DeKalb County Police Department and by the Sheriff's Office of Professional Standards.
